Our goal for this experience is for you to deepen your connection with God, His church,
and your purpose in the epic story He is writing through human history.
Whether you live in the Bay Area or out of state, we want to help find the right group for you! Our Community Groups meet online through Zoom. We offer Co-ed, women’s, men’s, and married couples groups running Mondays - Thursdays! If you’re in college or a young professional, we have groups on Thursday evenings. They follow the 7 rhythms of Rooted: Daily Devotion, serving the community, sacrificial generosity, freedom from strongholds, prayer, sharing your story, and celebration! Haven't gone through Rooted yet? Sign up below!
Come and find out what it looks like to
follow Jesus in community with Northgate.
We believe thriving spiritually happens best in Community Groups. A Community Group is made up of many individuals that meet together throughout the week online.
It is in a Community Group where you study God’s Word together and are in a setting in which you can tackle the tough questions and challenges of life. You will find Community Groups to be a comfortable place where you can connect with and share life with like-minded people.
Community Group meetings last approximately 1.5 hours each—thirty minutes for snacking, eating, and hanging out; one hour for Bible study and prayer. As Community Group members begin to develop community, they most likely will want to spend even more time together. There is always time for prayer and sharing of life issues where others in your group can help you walk through life and not be alone.
Most Community Group studies will not have mandatory homework. Occasionally there will be optional support resources such as devotions, podcasts, online lessons, and so forth.
Community Group is like family, some of them last for years, others multiply and start new groups in 12 to 18 months. We expect all Community Groups to have a leader and an apprentice leader. As the group grows, it will be the apprentice leader who begins a new group.
Community Groups are like family – sometimes you talk, sometimes you listen. No one is forced to talk or to lead the group. As the group develops, people become much more comfortable. We have discovered that people who seldom speak up in large groups will talk in Community Groups.
No. Again, you are allowed to move, grow, at your own pace. When you want to share a prayer concern or pray out loud, you will be encouraged to do so.
None. Community Groups are all about learning the Bible, not debating it or being tested on it. Each group typically selects their own Community Group curriculum, so it is something that the group as a whole is interested in learning about. Occasionally, every Community Group will go through the same curriculum.
We encourage you to visit a couple of Community Groups to see how they operate. At the same time, we want you to find a group that you feel will best thrive in. After your initial visits, commit to attending a Community Group for six straight weeks.
Northgate is a non-denominational church with an online campus and two beautiful physical locations in the Bay area. Our staff and volunteers can't wait to meet and pray with you.
