Reach Wide

We exist to extend an unconditional welcome to people from all walks of life. We intentionally break down barriers, foster belonging, and share the love of Christ beyond our doors.

Grow Deep

We are committed to rooted spiritual growth. Through intentional scripture study, prayer, authentic small groups, and mentorship, we cultivate a mature faith that withstands life's challenges.

Unleash Compassion

We put our faith into action. By empowering every individual to use their unique gifts, we address real human needs, advocate for the vulnerable, and serve our local and global communities with tangible acts of grace.

We acknowledge that to Represent well we must first be present...

We acknowledge that to Represent well we must first be present...

Being a good representative involves being filled with the essence of Jesus and continually growing in faith and love. Our commitment is to be vessels overflowing with the qualities of Jesus, making a tangible impact on those closest to us and reaching out to those farthest from him. We acknowledge that to Represent well, we must first be present to be actively engaged in a journey that mirrors Jesus's transformative relationship with those around him.

To achieve this representation,

we emphasize the importance of spending dedicated time in the presence of Jesus. We recognize that personal growth, spiritual development, and an authentic representation of Jesus arise from a regular and intentional communion with him. By immersing ourselves in his teachings, listening to his voice, and embracing the principles of hope, joy, peace, love, gentleness, and kindness, we cultivate a rich inner life that naturally spills over into our interactions with others.

We envision a community where Representing Jesus isn't a distant goal but a lived reality. Our commitment is to create an environment where individuals are encouraged and equipped to be Present with Jesus regularly. Through communal worship, small groups, and intentional study of the scriptures, we aspire to foster an atmosphere where everyone can learn to hear and recognize the voice of Jesus.

We aspire to be a community that embraces diversity and inclusivity...

Representing Jesus involves bridging gaps, breaking down barriers, and extending the love and acceptance that characterized Jesus' interactions. We aspire to be a community that embraces diversity and inclusivity, mirroring the open-hearted nature of Jesus. We want to be known for what we stand for and, more importantly, for who we represent—Jesus, the embodiment of love, grace, truth, and compassion.

In the journey of Representing, we acknowledge that personal transformation is the foundation for impacting our community and the world. We commit to equipping each member to be a beacon of hope, a source of joy, and a vessel of peace and love in their spheres of influence. As we grow individually, we collectively become a powerful force for positive change.

Our mission: Helping un-churched, de-churched, and anti-churched become whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ.

Represent encapsulates Our mission: Helping un-churched, de-churched, and anti-churched become wholehearted followers of Jesus Christ. To bring the transformative power of Jesus to every corner of our community. It challenges us to be not just messengers but also living representations of the grace and love in Jesus Christ. Our vision is to be known as a community that not only preaches the gospel but lives it out, embodying the values of Jesus in every interaction and relationship. Represent is not just a word; it's a call to action, a commitment to live in a way that draws others closer to the transformative love of Jesus. As we embrace this vision, we anticipate a ripple effect, as those who experience the authentic representation of Jesus in our lives are compelled to seek him for themselves.

In summary, Represent is our rallying cry, compass, and commitment. It succinctly captures our vision to be authentic representatives of Jesus, sharing his love and grace with those closest to us and reaching out to those farthest from him. This vision is not just a statement; it's a way of life that we, as the Northgate community, are dedicated to living out daily.

People in Process

People in Process

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other."

-Galatians 5:22-26

Generous Living

Generous Living

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

-2 Corinthians 9:7-8

What We Believe

Our doctrine as a non-denominational church.

There is one God, creator and ruler of the universe, eternally existing in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Although we were created good and upright in the image of God, by our rebellious attitude and willful disobedience we have fallen from perfection. The result of this sin is separation from God, our creator.

We were all created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by our sin, or in union with God through salvation. The place of eternal separation from God is called Hell. The place of eternal life in union with God is called Heaven.

John 3:16; Matthew 25:41; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 2:9; Revelation 20:10, 15

God's gift of grace is eternal life through Jesus Christ. We have no righteousness of our own and must rely completely on Christ's righteousness as a gift, purchased for us by His redemptive work. This gift is called Salvation.

Romans 3:23&24; Romans 6:23; John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8

He is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days, demonstrating His power over sin and death and has returned to heaven, offering forgiveness for sin and eternal life to all who will trust in Him.

Matthew 1:21; John 1:1-5; Acts 4:10-12; Acts 13:38&29; Romans 1:3&4; 1 John 5:11-13

It is by our confession and repentance from sin, and our faith in Jesus Christ, that we are made right with God and given New Life. God transforms the heart and life of a believer at conversion and continues to grow us in faith and obedience to His word.

1 John 1:9; Romans 10:9&10; 1 Corinthians 5:17

The Spirit of God indwells those who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He convinces us of our sin; leads, comforts and teaches us in the New Life; and empowers and gifts us for ministry.

John 14:16&17, 26; John 16:7&8; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22,23

God has given to every believer ministry gifts through the Holy Spirit. He has done so to empower His people to do His work in this world. Each believer is to discover and exercise his/her Spiritual Gift(s) to serve and encourage the Church.

Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Ephesians 4:7-16

The Church is the Body of Christ, of which each believer is an integral part. It is God's purpose for all believers to be united in fellowship with other believers for their own spiritual growth and the spiritual growth of others.

Matthew 16:18; Acrs 2:41-47; Acts 16:4&5; Ephesians 1:22-23; Hebrews 10:25

The Bible is God's Word to all mankind. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian faith and living.

2 Timothy 3:16&17; 2 Peter 1:20&21; 1 Peter 2:2; Psalm 119:105&160

God has instituted two ordinances for the church by which His people identify themselves with Him. Baptism by immersion is an outward act of obedience, signifying the inward work of Christ. In Communion we commemorate His broken body and shed blood for the forgiveness of our sins.

Matthew 28:19; Colossians 2:12; Luke 22:17-19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Because we are created as eternal beings and have been given eternal life through the forgiveness of our sins we look forward to the imminent, personal return of Jesus Christ, when He will come for those who are His and will bring us into heaven to be with Him forever.

John 14:1-3; Acts 1:10&11; 1 Corinthians 15:50-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16&17

Our STORY

Every church has a story worth telling, and we are excited to share ours.

Northgate Christian Fellowship was started in Benicia, California in the living room of Ken and Betty Jensen as a church plant of Bethel Christian Church of San Francisco in 1991.

Beginning with a group of 12 adults, 5 children and a focused mission: "To help unchurched people become whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ."

This started by spending time with others and people that were not engaged in a local church to find out what was keeping them from being part of a church. From those conversations, came our values, goals and focus on developing a strategy for engaging the unchurched, de-churched, anti-churched and all people of our community.

We determined to be a community of grace that would accept others as they are, offer them the hope of God's Crace and the chance to experience genuine life-transformation by His work in their lives.

We continue to be a mix of people from all different backgrounds, experiences and ethnicities and we are united in our love for God, our commitment to His calling and our passion for helping those who do not yet know God, helping them discover and embrace the life He has for them through His grace.

We Can't Wait to Welcome You to Northgate
