SERIES OVERVIEW
Waiting is hard sometimes, especially during the “in-between” seasons of life when one door closes and it’s not clear when or how the next door will open. I felt that way before. Lonely. Aimless. Waiting for what would come next, hoping for something good. Later I realized that even then, God was at work, preparing me for what lay ahead.
This series is an invitation to witness God’s faithfulness to His people— to us! For hundreds of years, God’s people waited for God to act, to make good on His promises, to send an everlasting King to make all things right. And God was at work the whole time, even when Israel was carried off to exile, and even when the people returned home to a land ruled by foreign powers. God prepared the way for Jesus, working through unlikely people in humble places. Then, when the waiting was finally over, God invited people to meet Jesus and worship Him.
That same invitation is extended to us today. Yet we live in another “in between” time—the time between Jesus’ first and second coming. Do we believe God is still faithful? Do we believe Jesus will come again and bring the fullness of God’s kingdom with Him? God’s big story gives us confidence in the days of waiting. So, keep watch. The King is coming!
WEEK ONE WONDER TRUTH: God Will Send an Everlasting King SCRIPTURE: Daniel 7 GOD’S BIG STORY: While in Babylonian exile, one night Daniel dreams of four fierce beasts who would bring chaos. But the dream ends with God’s everlasting King bringing order through His eternal reign.

WEEK TWO WONDER TRUTH: God Prepares the Way for Jesus SCRIPTURE: Luke 1 GOD’S BIG STORY: After centuries of waiting for the King God had promised, Zechariah and Elizabeth have a son who is filled with God’s Spirit from a young age and prepares the hearts of God’s people for Jesus.

WEEK THREE WONDER TRUTH: Jesus Is the Promised King SCRIPTURE: Luke 1 GOD’S BIG STORY: God’s people have waited for the promised King. At long last, an angel tells a young woman named Mary that she will be mother to the coming King Jesus.

WEEK FOUR WONDER TRUTH: God Invites People to Meet Jesus SCRIPTURE: Luke 2 GOD’S BIG STORY: Jesus—the everlasting King—is born in Bethlehem! An angel announces His birth to nearby shepherds, who hurry to meet the baby and then tell everyone about the child.
