Our doctrine as a non-denominational church.
- ABOUT GOD: There is one God, creator and ruler of the universe, eternally existing in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
GENESIS 1:1, 26&27; MATTHEW 28:19; JOHN 5:17-30; 1 JOHN 5:7 - ABOUT HUMANITY: Although we were created good and upright in the image of God, by our rebellious attitude and willful disobedience we have fallen from perfection. The result of this sin is separation from God, our creator.
GENESIS 1:27; ISAIAH 59:1&2; ROMANS 3:10-12; ROMANS 5:12-14 - ABOUT ETERNITY: We were all created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by our sin, or in union with God through salvation. The place of eternal separation from God is called Hell. The place of eternal life in union with God is called Heaven.
JOHN 3:16; MATTHEW 25:41; ROMANS 6:23; 1 CORINTHIANS 2:9; REVELATION 20:10, 15 - ABOUT GOD'S GRACE: God's gift of grace is eternal life through Jesus Christ. We have no righteousness of our own and must rely completely on Christ's righteousness as a gift, purchased for us by His redemptive work. This gift is called Salvation.
ROMANS 3:23&24; ROMANS 6:23; JOHN 3:16; EPHESIANS 2:8 - ABOUT JESUS CHRIST: He is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days, demonstrating His power over sin and death and has returned to heaven, offering forgiveness for sin and eternal life to all who will trust in Him.
MATTHEW 1:21; JOHN 1:1-5; ACTS 4:10-12; ACTS 13:38&29; ROMANS 1:3&4; 1 JOHN 5:11-13 - ABOUT FAITH IN CHRIST: It is by our confession and repentance from sin, and our faith in Jesus Christ, that we are made right with God and given New Life. God transforms the heart and life of a believer at conversion and continues to grow us in faith and obedience to His word.
1 JOHN 1:9; ROMANS 10:9&10; 1 CORINTHIANS 5:17 - ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT: The Spirit of God indwells those who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He convinces us of our sin; leads, comforts and teaches us in the New Life; and empowers and gifts us for ministry.
JOHN 14:16&17, 26; JOHN 16:7&8; ACTS 1:8; GALATIANS 5:22,23 - ABOUT SPIRITUAL GIFTS: God has given to every believer ministry gifts through the Holy Spirit. He has done so to empower His people to do His work in this world. Each believer is to discover and exercise his/her Spiritual Gift(s) to serve and encourage the Church.
ROMANS 12:4-8; 1 CORINTHIANS 12:1-11; EPHESIANS 4:7-16 - ABOUT THE CHURCH: The Church is the Body of Christ, of which each believer is an integral part. It is God's purpose for all believers to be united in fellowship with other believers for their own spiritual growth and the spiritual growth of others.
MATTHEW 16:18; ACTS 2:41-47; ACTS 16:4&5; EPHESIANS 1:22-23; HEBREWS 10:25 - ABOUT THE BIBLE: The Bible is God's Word to all mankind. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian faith and living.
2 TIMOTHY 3:16&17; 2 PETER 1:20&21; 1 PETER 2:2; PSALM 119:105&160 - ABOUT BAPTISM & COMMUNION: God has instituted two ordinances for the church by which His people identify themselves with Him. Baptism by immersion is an outward act of obedience, signifying the inward work of Christ. In Communion we commemorate His broken body and shed blood for the forgiveness of our sins.
MATTHEW 28:19; COLOSSIANS 2:12; LUKE 22:17-19; 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26 - ABOUT CHRIST'S RETURN: Because we are created as eternal beings and have been given eternal life through the forgiveness of our sins we look forward to the imminent, personal return of Jesus Christ, when He will come for those who are His and will bring us into heaven to be with Him forever.
